OpenActive Data launched on Bristol Active City

OpenActive is a community-led initiative with the ambition to help people in England get active using open opportunity data. More information can be found here https://www.openactive.io/

Open opportunity data is about where and when sport and physical activities happen. Opportunity data covers many types of physical activities. From one-to-one classes, mass participation events, to gym classes and yoga sessions. It does NOT include participation and attendance data, commercially sensitive data or personal customer data. See https://www.openactive.io/how-it-works/

In Bristol we are working with the OpenActive initiative and IMIN https://www.imin.co/ to develop and promote physical activity open data. We have created an activity finder that showcases the open data made available so far in Bristol and the surrounding area.

The activity finder is at the “Beta” stage. This means it is a work in progress and still has a lot of improvement and development to come. We aim to work with more partners to help them open their data and add to the volume available. This will improve the activity finder but also has the potential to offer a vast range of other services. See https://www.openactive.io/our-vision/

Please get in touch with Craig.Hyslop@bristol.gov.uk if you would like support to open your data, or with any feedback or questions you might have on OpenActive Bristol.
