In response to coronavirus (COVID-19), the government announced support for small businesses and businesses working in these sectors:
- retail
- hospitality
- leisure
Bristol City Council have two grant funding schemes:
- £10,000 under the Small Business Grant Fund
- either £10,000 or £25,000 under the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund
Note that the grant won’t be paid:
- on car parks and parking spaces
- if the property is used for personal uses, for example private stables or artist studios
- if the business was in liquidation or was dissolved on 11 March 2020
- if the rateable value of the property is over £50,999
You’ll be eligible for either the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant or the Small Business Grant, not both. If you think you meet the criteria for both grants, apply for the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant.
Small Business Grant Fund (SBGF) of £10,000
Your property must have been occupied and in receipt of either full or sliding scale Small Business Rate Relief as defined on GOV.UK on the 11 March 2020.
Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant (RHLG) of either £10,000 or £25,000
To be eligible for the grant, your property must have:
- been occupied on 11 March 2020
- a rateable value of less than £51,000
- been eligible for a discount under the business rates Expanded Retail Discount Scheme had that scheme been in force for that date, 11 March 2020
You’ll be entitled to one grant per property and paid:
- £10,000 if your property has a rateable value up to £15,000
- £25,000 if your rateable value is over £15,000 and less than £51,000
